IBC(s) Section 1208 and IRC Section 807 of the International Building Code(s) shall be amended to read as follows:

IBC Section 1208 and IRC section 807. Attic Spaces: Access. An attic access opening shall be provided in the ceiling of the top floor of buildings with combustible ceiling or roof construction. The opening shall be located in a corridor, hallway, or garage of an R-3 occupancy and in the corridor or hallway of any other occupancy. The opening shall be not less than 22 inches by 30 inches. Thirty (30) inch minimum clear head room shall be provided above the access opening. Attics with a maximum vertical clear height of less than 30 inches need not be provided with access openings.
