The City Engineer is authorized to approve the placement of signs indicating student loading zones upon either or both sides of any street adjacent to any school property when such a zone would, in his opinion, not seriously interfere with traffic or create a hazardous situation, but such zone is requested by the Pasco School District and is reasonably necessary for the convenience of parents from their automobiles dropping off their children and picking up their children from the school. When signs are erected indicating a student loading zone upon that side of a street adjacent to any school property, no person shall leave the vehicle unattended without the driver, or remain in the designated zone for purposes other than student drop-off or pickup at the adjacent school. The cost of the signs and their placement and maintenance shall be at the sole expense and responsibility of the Pasco School District. No such sign shall be placed without the approval of the City Engineer as to its location, design and message. [Ord. 2641 § 1, 1987; Code 1970 § 10.52.045.]
